Scandlon Gymnasium Recreation Center Expansion / Renovation
King's College
Wilkes Barre, PA
The Scandlon Health and Wellness Center on the campus of King’s College introduced a 41,000 sf addition of multipurpose recreation and education space to the campus. The addition includes a 20,000 sf gymnasium, an athletic training suite, health sciences classrooms and offices. Additionally there is an outdoor teaching area that brings needed “green space” to the urban campus. Along with the new addition, the project included renovation to the original building which included the installation of central air-conditioning throughout the entire building. Martin Rogers & Associates was the prime mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineer for the team. The firm not only designed the new air conditioning system, but also the interior lighting and emergency lighting and plumbing systems throughout the building.
