Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center – Frank M. and Dorothea Henry Cancer Center

Wilkes-Barre, PA

Martin Rogers has provided mechanical and electrical engineering services for the Henry Cancer Center at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center since it was originally constructed in 1991. Construction began on a 35,000 SF, three story, LEED certified addition to accommodate their growing program. The expansion includes a new patient pharmacy, exam and office space, four private infusion rooms, twenty infusion bays, and various support spaces. The facility was designed for future vertical expansion to accommodate anticipated growth and expansion of services.

LEED design efforts led to provisions for local lighting control for 90% or more of the building occupants, 30% reduction in water usage, use of T5 style energy efficient lamps in lighting fixtures, and inclusion of changing rooms and showers to support alternative transportation initiatives. The mechanical system was based on the utilization of water source heat pumps and energy recovery equipment.
