In order to meet the growing expectations of their science students and faculty, Wilkes University is expanding its horizons with the construction of a new four story, facility to house teaching and research laboratories, classrooms, meeting and seminar rooms, offices and related support spaces for its Biology and Health Sciences, Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences Departments. Martin Rogers provided full MEP/FP design services for the new structure including normal and emergency power distribution, lighting and associated automatic controls, voice / data wiring and related infrastructure, building access control and security, mass notification fire alarm system, HVAC systems including strobic exhaust and specialized valve controls related to the numerous hoods, specialized water and gas systems, and infrastructure as required for an NMR suite, greenhouse, and specialized labs. The project goal was LEED Silver Certification with numerous credits being achieved via the MEP/FP design.
